More on the Specifications for the Premium Galaxy Note Edge.

Samsung gave us a wonderful treat when it made the official announcement of two amazing upcoming smartphones. We were fully expecting the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but as the announcement came with a new premium version of the Phablet we were all left wanting more.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was officially announced and will be announced by the end of the year, and it will bring with it one amazing and feature full smartphone. While there will be many similarities between the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge, there will be many differences including some unique, premium features. The following are the Galaxy Note Edge specifications and the differing factors between the Edge and the Note 4.

5.6″ Curved Screen with Side Swipe Controls

The most obvious difference between the newest Note and the Galaxy Note Edge will be the curved screen that will introduce unique viewing angles and more functionality. The swipe controls can be seen on the right side of the screen and will give users the ability to add more on-screen button controls that will not interfere with the screen visibility. Options can be added such as apps, games, messaging, email, and more.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge screen will sport an amazing Super Amoled screen. The screen will also have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which will add to the screens protection. Available in 1600 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 524, it will be the same as screen as the Galaxy Note 4.

16 MP Primary Camera and 3.7 MP Secondary Camera

The Galaxy Note Edge camera specs will also be similar to that of the camera specs for the Galaxy Note 4. The primary camera will have 16 MP and will come standard with optical image stabilization, auto focus, and LED flash features. The secondary camera will have 3.7 MP and have a video recording at 30 fps.

The Galaxy Note 4 primary camera will also come with 16 MP and will also feature optical image stabilization, auto focus, and an LED flash. The secondary camera of the Note 4 will feature 3.7 MP, but will be in 1440p versus the 1080p of the Note Edge. Both will have other similar camera features such as geo-tagging, dual shot, simultaneous video and HD recording, facial detection, HDR, and panorama.

3000 mAh Lithium Ion Battery

The battery of the Galaxy Note Edge will have a 3000 mAh Lithium Ion battery which will differ greatly with the 3200 mAh battery of the Note 4. The extra battery power may be noticeable between the normal day to day tasks of smartphone users as the bigger battery of the Galaxy Note 4 will be much better. We were hoping to see a better battery in the premium battery of the Edge, but only time will tell how much this will have an effect.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Quad-Core Processor and 3 GB RAM

The rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Quad-core processor at 2.7 ghz that has been rumored to be the cornerstone of upcoming Samsung smartphones will be featured in both the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4. The Exynos chipset is expected to be one of the fastest processors on the market and will have a huge effect on processing speed, precision, and battery consumption.

Both will also come standard with 3 GB RAM which will further add to the processing power. The RAM allows the phone itself to allocate internal memory which makes the processing power that much faster. Coupled with the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system, both the latest Phablet and the newest Samsung model released will compare to other upcoming smartphone releases.

Other Features of the Galaxy Note Edge and Samsung Galaxy Note 4

The memory in the Galaxy Note Edge will give users more internal memory options. Expected to come standard in 32 and 64 GB of internal memory versus a 32 GB option for the Note 4, while both will be expandable up to 128 GB with a micro SD card slot.

Both will have standard features including a fingerprint scanner, S Pen functionality, and gyro, proximity, accelerometer, barometer, SPO2, and heart rate sensors. Samsung has done a terrific job integrating many health related concept into all upcoming Samsung smartphone releases.

The official release date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in the US was October 17th with preorders starting on the 14th. With a limited supply at this time, backorders are already being seen with all of the top cell phone carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.

With the huge demand for the latest Phablet the same is expected with the Galaxy Note Edge release date. As of this time, there has been no official release date set for the Note Edge, although, it has been confirmed that we will see it by year’s end. With the expected release date in Japan to be before the US launch, the Japanese release will give us more insight on when and where we will see the Edge in other geo locations.

Most of the major carriers like AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and T Mobile have already announced that they will carry the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge on the release date in the US. The price has yet to be confirmed, but most analysts believe that the Edge will be priced in at $900 – 1000 if purchased outright, and $349+ if purchased with a cell carrier contract. This will be slightly more than the Note 4 price which is representative of the premium features for the newest Galaxy Note Edge specifications.
